What's The千鳥【CHIDORI】？ The plover is a bird that represents winter, and in the world of waka poetry it ranks alongside the spring nightingale, the summer cuckoo, and the autumn wild goose. Their melancholy cries, heard in the bitter cold near water, have been a favorite subject of waka poetry. "Plovers on the Waves" is an auspicious Japanese pattern that represents prayers for success in competitions, marital harmony, and safety in the home, as it depicts a flock of plovers flying over the water's edge "overcoming rough waves together." This is an auspicious pattern that has been popular since the Manyo ancient period. Combining "chidori" (plover) and "sentori" (a thousand harvests), it also symbolizes prayers for victory and goal achievement. Popular since ancient times, it is used on kimonos, folding fans, hand towels called Tenugui, and more, and is considered a symbol of coolness and good fortune. Furthermore, "chidori" refers to arranging or constructing tiles in a staggered pattern, rather than aligning them vertically or horizontally. The expression "chidori ashi" (staggered feet) is sometimes used to describe the way someone walks while drunk, and it is said that this comes from the zigzag pattern of plovers, which walk with their legs crossed. *Please carefully review the images. This bowl is made and has been used in Meiji or Taishou era, about 100-150 years ago. ※Please understand some damages from age, especially for like underside's dirt because they are antiques. 兜と漢詩柄の蓋付き碗　ベロ藍の印判　明治・大正頃 明治、または大正時代の蓋付きのお茶碗です。兜や漢詩が描かれています。印判（いんばん）と言われる食器に印刷をする技法で、藍色の染料で模様が漬けられています。ベロ藍は明治初期にドイツのベルリンから輸入された染料で、濃く艶やかな藍色がとても魅力的です。 こちらは明治または大正時代、100年から150年前位前の物です。 普通100年以上古いものですとガラスケースに入れられて展示されもおかしくない位ですが、骨董の世界では実際にお使い頂けるのがなんと言っても魅力です。 特にこういった日常的に使われていた食器類はお値段も驚くほどリーズナブルなので、是非お手に取って当時の人々の息吹を感じてみて下さい。 食器としてはもちろん、アイディア次第で小物を入れたり、グリーンを飾るのも素敵です。古い箪笥の木目や、観葉植物のグリーンには本当に映えますよ。 ※アンティーク品につき、時代によるすれや裏の汚れなどがあることがあります。ご了承頂けますようお願い致します。
